About Us

Lancashire Medicines Management Group (LMMG) has been established as part of the collaborative commissioning arrangements between the eight Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs). Its purpose is to provide a platform for a consensus decision making process relating to the use of medicines across the Lancashire NHS footprint, to ensure equity in access to medicines and optimisation of medicines use. The Group will make recommendations to CCGs and provider organisations for adoption in order to ensure the best use of medicines and associated resources across the health and social care system in Lancashire.

The Group’s membership is drawn from clinicians from each of the CCGs, the Hospital Trusts and Lancashire Care mental health Trust, as well as public health and pharmacy representation. Its operation is supported by the NHS Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit. The wide range of expertise brought together in the Group ensures that the processes underpinning local decision-making about medicines and treatments are consistent with the NHS Constitution and in accordance with common law.
